You can call it Queen of the Night, Dutchman’s Pipe Cactus, or in Vietnamese “Hoa Quỳnh”, but it is one of the rarest of all flowers. It only blooms at night and only under the right conditions; and apparently it only blooms once a year. Supposedly one of the most expensive flowers, it was also featured in the movie Crazy Rich Asians. At Anise, we are not crazy rich Asians, but we have one Dutchman’s Pipe Cactus at the restaurant and were lucky enough to witness the Queen of the Night bloomed last night.
